My Current Hair Care Routine

Recently I've settled into a pretty consistent hair care routine, I've found some really great products that work really well together and I thought I'd share my routine for all my fellow followers who share my dry/damaged hair type. My hair hasn't always been in the best condition, I used to bleach for a few years which just killed it and since then, even though it's now in pretty good condition I still have massive paranoia about my hair being in bad condition. I tend to get quite dry skin and my hairs the same, especially when I'm at work with the fan heaters or if I use to much heat, so I like to keep as much moisture in my hair as possible.

I start off by washing my hair with the Superdrug Extracts Coconut & Almond Shampoo & Conditioner for dry/damaged hair. I picked these up for the first time last month when I was waiting for payday and I couldn't really afford the Frizz Ease or Aussie that I normally go for but I've been pleasantly surprised. They leave my hair feeling really soft, the smell is incredible and they are super cheap. Once I'm out of the shower I towel dry my hair a little and apply the John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Sheer Mist to the ends of my hair which really helps to keep the ends of my hair smooth and damage free, I usually use about 6 squirts and apply to the last 6 inches. Next I apply one pump of the John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Hair Serum which I raved about in my review a few months back, it really controls the frizz and keeps my hair looking soft and smooth. Then I add the Kevin Murphy Young Again, I brought this from my brothers salon after he used it on my hair. It's well worth the high price tag, it has really helped to repair my hair and leaves it feeling so soft, it's actually replaced the Macadamia Oil I was using for years before. If I'm leaving my hair to dry naturally that's all I do to my hair, I just let it dry and it goes sort of wavy and a bit mad. If I want to style it, I apply the VO5 Smoothly Does It Heat Protect Styling Spray, it really does protect your hair, I find if I don't use it my hair gets frizzy and broken!
Hopefully that has helped some of you girlies with hair that needs some love!

Music I'm Currently Loving

When I was younger I was really into my music, I'd spend hours online looking for new bands, these last few years I haven't been so dedicated, I tend to listen to the same old albums over and over again. Then a few months ago I decided to get Spotify and because of it, and some influence from a few friends I've discovered so much new music (to me!) that I love and I just wanted to share a few of my current favourite with you. Hopefully you'll like this new style of blog post! Please let me know in the comments.

Chromeo - Jealous

Both my brothers were telling me to listen to Chromeo for such a long time and I can't believe it took me so long. I love the electro/funk combination, they've become a go to for when I'm getting ready for a night out! I'm loving all of their albums but my top tracks have to be Jealous, Sexy Socialite and Needy Girl.

Haim - If I Could Change Your Mind

Oh my god I absolutely adore Haim, I haven't felt like this about a new band since I discovered Florence & The Machine. They have such a cool 80's sound, they look incredible and I can't get enough of their album. I love every song. I've pretty much had their album on repeat since Christmas, every song is amazing but my favourites have to be If I Could Change Your Mind, Running If You Call My Name and Don't Save Me.

College Featuring Electric Youth - A Real Hero

I only found this track the other day but it's already become a firm favourite. I was (finally) watching Drive and this song is in the soundtrack, the film was incredible and this song just complimented it so beautifully. I must have listened to it 20 times since Sunday. The rest of the soundtrack is awesome too, definitely one to take a look at if you are into your electro.

Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension

Being a massive fan of The Strokes, they were the first band that I really loved (along with Jimmy Eat World!) and I still listen to their first two albums quite a lot. I've also always adored Julian Casablancas voice and along with the electro/synth direction he's going in, this is my favourite track of his solo album which came out in 2009. Hoping he releases some new stuff soon.

Daft Punk Featuring Julian Casablancas - Instant Crush

I've been a fan of Daft Punk for years now, their Discovery album is an all time favourite so I've been loving their current return to the mainstream. Instant Crush is probably my favourite off the Random Access Memory album, it's not often that two of my favourite artists collaborate so this song is such a treat for me.

Seventeen Skin Wow Highlighter

If you read Lucy Loves To Blog regularly you've probably heard me mention this highlighter a few times already. I brought it back in the end of January and I've used it pretty much every day since, I picked it up on a bit of a whim as I had a few pounds on my Boots card and fancied a treat. I always used to be all about the matte look but since I got brought the Benefit Feelin' Dandy set with the wonderful High Beam included I've been loving a more dewy look.

I've never brought anything from Seventeen before but this highlighter/primer really caught my eye, for only £5.99 you get a massive bottle (30ml) which you can use in 3 different ways, underneath your foundation as a primer, mixed in with your foundation or as I use it, a highlighter to add to your cheekbones. As I haven't been wearing foundation this past 6 weeks or so I'm only reviewing this today as a highlighter. So after I've applied my primer, concealer and blush, I add the Seventeen Skin Wow Highlighter to my cheekbones. The only thing I don't really like about this highlighter is the pump, I only ever use about half the amount that it pumps out so some gets wasted which is frustrating but it would probably be the right amount if you were using it as a primer. The consistency is lovely and creamy, it's shimmering but to much so that it looks like you've covered your face in glitter, it give a healthy glow. It lasts well on the skin, with it still shimmering by the end of the working day. I love that this highlighter is suitable for both night and day, it's become one of my go to products and as much as I love the Benefit High Beam, I haven't touched it in a good few weeks.

Have you tried the Seventeen Skin Wow Highlighter?

Holiday Wishlist!

If you are a regular reader of Lucy Loves To Blog, you've probably heard me banging on about my holiday to Florida/New York and now that I've done all my saving for my holiday I'd like to treat myself to a few bits and bobs to take with me. There's been some beautiful pieces in the shops recently and there's a few that I just don't think I can resist for my American adventure! I've been scouring the online shops quite a lot recently and to my surprise, New Look has had some gorgeous stuff, I'm not normally a regular New Look shopper but this season they've really got some irresistible clothes, as usual, River Island and ASOS are firm favourites!

I love the pattern of these sweet daisy print shorts from River Island, they have such lovely summery feel to them and I always feel more comfortable in shorts than I do in skirts. I've wanted this River Island cut out top since last year but never purchased it (god knows why?) it's such a classic design and I know I've got so much that I could wear it with! As much as I love my cut off black levi's these River Island shorts look a little lighter so they'd be great for wearing in the theme parks, I can just imagine my levi's taking days to dry if they get wet on the water rides! I've been looking for a nice yellow top to go with a couple of pairs of shorts I brought last year and this New Look cami is perfect, I might have to buy 2 or 3! I'm a sucker for a pretty skirt, and this New Look one is so gorgeous and summery, the colours in it are so beautiful and the skater style is so flattering. I'm not usually a maxi dress person, I don't think I even own one, but the pattern of this one is so cool and it would be lovely in the evenings. I adore this little monochrome mini, it could easily be dressed up for evenings out or worn casual during the day, it's definitely top of the wishlist! I'd really like another pair of sandals for the holiday too, I know I had a recent shoe splurge but these ASOS ones look a little more sturdy and the colour is gorgeous!

Holiday Haul

Last Saturday my friend Amy Jo invited me on a little shopping trip, I agreed to go but promised myself I wouldn't spend any money unless I found some shoes for my holiday. Well luckily I did find some cute shoes for Florida but I also found another £70 worth of clothes, shoes and beauty products to by, whoops! I didn't do too badly though because most of what I brought I did buy for my holiday, I'm off in about a month so I really need to get organised with what I'm taking with me. Luckily H&M and Primark were my shops of choice so the damage wasn't too bad, the £30 in Boots though was really unnecessary!

I've been looking for a Breton tee for such a long time but could never find one that fit nicely and wasn't way to expensive, I picked this up on a bit of whim but I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it, I've already worn it twice! I picked up these three cropped tees for my holiday, I love a crop top when it's sunny and these are such a nice shape, the scoop neckline is really flattering, I'm definitely going to pick up some more colours. Okay, the socks were definitely not a necessity but they just matched the top so well I couldn't refuse, and you can never have enough socks right?

I've been on the look out for some comfy and cool shoes to take on holiday for what feels like ages but having no luck! Luckily they had these cuties in Primark. I had a pair of the navy espadrills last year and I wore them till they fell of my feet, so for £4 I thought they were well worth picking up. The cute peach striped ones caught my eye too, they'll go with so much of my summer wardrobe. The tan strappy shoes are just what I've been looking for, tan goes with everything, they're comfortable and they were only £8, they are going to be perfect for my holiday.

Yeah, this is where it got a bit out of hand! I picked up my favourite make up remover, the wonderful L'oreal Micellar Solution, which I had actually run out of. Then I treated myself to the Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Primer, I actually couldn't help myself, I've been lusting over it for such a long time that I finally craved (Thank god I don't regret it! Expect a review soon). I also brought myself a new Baby Lips, I accidentally left my old one in a pair of jeans and washed it. Last time I brought a exfoliator I stupidly picked up one for combination skin, which I do not have, so that's been passed on to my mum and I picked up the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Exfoliator (again, I'll be reviewing this at some point). Finally I couldn't refuse an old favourite, the Soap & Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter, it always leaves my skin feeling so soft and the smell is so incredible that it had to go in the basket!

Have you been shopping recently? Did you have a good splurge?

March In Photos

March is my favourite month of the year, mostly because it's my birth month, but also because it's the start of Spring. This month for me has been a really exciting one, I started my web design course, which I'm really enjoying, it's very challenging but I'm learning so much that I know it's going to be worth all the hard work. I've also got fully back on the blogging bandwagon and loved every minute of it, I'm so glad I've made some time in my life to enjoy blogging, it's such a rewarding hobby to have and I want to thank you for being patient with me! I've had quite a social month too which has been lovely, I had an amazing birthday weekend, plus some lovely days and nights out with friends, to be honest, I'm not quite sure how I've fitted everything in! Here's a few of my favourite snaps from March.
